Blue transfer print carp and chrysanthemum 12" charger - Japanese Arita
I'm guessing that this is late 19th/early 20th C Chinese for export? I picked up another very similar at the same time (can post images if desired).
It appears to be influenced by earlier designs such as this example:

BTW does anyone know when commercial trivets were introduced?

Re: Japanese Arita / Imari
The Chinese copied their own designs right through to the 20th Century so difficult to date without a mark.
The Japanese also copied Chinese designs. As it's transfer printed it's more likely to be a 19th Century Japanese copy. The presence of stilt marks also points to Japanese manufacture as the Chinese didn't use them - as you can see on the example on the link - unless it's a modern Chinese copy.

Thanks Naomi. There is more age-related wear than is apparent in the photos so not, I suspect, modern Chinese.

Re: Japanese Arita / Imari
My first thought was 19th Century Japanese. I'd expect 20th Century pieces to be marked.

Looks Japanese Imari. The colours look quite bright so I'd agree 20th Century but I wouldn't like to say when.
Edited to say, I now think it's latter half of the 19thC
