These pots are on the Gotheborg website but I cant remember off hand what they are. May be under the Japanese brown mark section

Found it. Its under the Chinese incised brown mark section. Used in the Guangxu period to date -

Fake mark?
I have an identical ginger jar. However there are no markings on it.
It would appear from the photos posted by Alex J that the Chinese character mark has been rather crudely added at a much later stage as the crazing, staining and rust spots evident elsewhere on the jar are absent in the immediate area of the mark.
So, I think we still need to try and age determine this item without relying on the marking.
