Blue Wood Lamp - Petra Tilly
Blue Wood was designed by Petra Tilly who decorated every piece herself as the design needed to be painted quickly to keep it loose and free

here is the same form with a Tchalenko design that I haven't seen before

zippy wrote:Does anyone know if Peter Cook made pottery?
He was one of the two original people taken on to establish the Dartington Pottery Training Workshop in 1976 (as assistant to Peter Starkey). The idea was to train potters, so I assume, that he must have been able to make pots and did so.
The "other" Peter Cook would have liked to have made pots but I know that he was too busy dealing with Jayne Mansfield's lobster problem.

Re: Dartington Pottery
I wasn't aware of Dartington pottery until I picked up a Next vase a few months back with a great design from a car boot. It turned out to be a Janice Tchalenko. Always nice to find something new to keep an eye out for.

Dartington - Petra Tilly - One Off Aquilegia Vase
Thank you for your continuing resource on Dartington, dantheman.
I was lucky to find a one off vase by Petra Tilly at Dartington's Cider Press Centre before Christmas in 2006. I have included some photos below.
It is 24cm high, 13cm wide.
Later, I found a larger vase in Kimono style by Petra Tilly on an auction site and I bought that, too. I do not think it is a one off, but it is signed on the bottom. I shall post up images in a follow up reply.
The subtlety of colour and the execution of the Aquilegia is far superior and much more pleasing in my opinion. The vase was a Christmas present for my wife.

Re: Dartington Pottery
Here is the other Petra Tilly which I mentioned yesterday. It is the Kimono design and signed. It is 28 cms high and about 17cm at its widest.

Re: Dartington Pottery
Grapes and vine leaves bowl. Does the lack of a Dartington stamp mean it's a later one from Janice Tchalenko's studio? Or that it's a later Grayshott piece?

I think they missed a few pieces at Dartington but it looks just the same as a Dartington example that I own
