Staffordshire Potteries Ltd
Staffordshire Potteries Ltd grew out of the Keele Street Pottery Group that began in the 1950s producing utilitarian dinner wares but from the 1960s started to make mugs. In 1972 the KilnCraft brand began and it became so popular that it became the corporate mark for the whole of the pottery group. By the mid 1980s Staffordshire Potteries was the largest producer of mugs in the world, with around 750,000 coming off the production lines each week.
They did produce the Bacchus range of tablewares, which was quite stylish and popular, but the good times didn't last and in the 1990s the whole operation closed down.
