doorknob vase - Scandinavian or German? - KH Wurtz Empty doorknob vase - Scandinavian or German? - KH Wurtz

5” tall vase, unusual shape. Stoneware. Signed Work? 35D
it came with a label reading “early Alan Wallwork”
Can anybody tell me more about it. Is it his? Anything similar out there? Date? 35D?
I’ve not had other work of his yet despite looking hard!

Not Alan Wallwork I'm afraid. Always has signed with an initial. Either W on his collaborative work, or AW on his personal pieces. Equally it is absolutely nothing like his style.

Not one of his recorded marks, and I’ve not seen him use numbers. It looks Scandinavian or German to me.

Great! So I still need to find some Alan Wallwork pots but it’s great you’ve identified it. Looks like the same signature as on the Württembergische link. Well done!
