Help ID brass box
Hi
I have aquired this lovely brass box with a beautifully enamelled lid. I have googled various ways but haven’t been able to find out about it. Would anyone know who made this item or at least enamelled it? There are no marks anywhere else on the box. Many thanks

Re: Help ID brass box
Not technically Cloisonne Dan, more Champ-levee enamel.
Nicely done, but maybe not all that old.

Re: Help ID brass box
are you sure? it looks to have raised wire holding the enamel

Re: Help ID brass box
oh? I thought it was where troughs or cells are carved or etched into the metal rather than metal wires

Re: Help ID brass box
If it helps...... it appears that the lighter background was applied first. Then the wires laid over that & filled in. The darker area at the bottom has the wires sunk into it so they are flush with the enamel. It looks nicely done.
