When you look at them they hold your attention and they seem to remind you of things ...but your not sure what. They make you think. Beautiful plates.
Re: Tony Morris
lots of the abstract Poole pottery designs were based on ordinance survey maps, often featuring traffic islands viewed from above

on the contrary, Tony was acutely aware of his surroundings when sketching for these pieces, people who knew him at that time often describe him as obsessed by whatever subject matter he focussed his attentions on.

I couldn't resist this 1999 charger when I saw it today despite wanting to thin out my collection

20% buyers premium plus a probable £600 reserve means it is no bargain.
The eye isn't Tony's usual style so I would need to see the TM monogram before bidding anything

Re: Tony Morris
yeah . I did know about it coming up a while ago as I know the person who is in charge of the toy section there and he gave me the heads up . I will have to pop over and have a look myself and see what I think before even before considering a bid.

Re: Tony Morris
if it can't be proven to be by Tony in the 60's then you're on thin ice

Re: Tony Morris
exactly . I don't think it has his quality but unless you know for certain it might well be a leave well alone

And it looks later than 1965 to me... those glazes are more like 67-69ish.

Re: Tony Morris
spoke to my mate ollie who works there and he said there is what looks like its signed by A S Morris in the bottom left tile . I have said I will pop over for a look and see what I make of it myself . I have never seen his work signed like that and wondered if anybody else had?

Re: Tony Morris
I also know of early tile panels signed A.S.Morris. As to value, how often do early tile panels come along ? I would take the opportunity to buy something that you won't get another chance on.
