ID help please for brass tray/dish with classical theme....
Hi,
I’ve picked up this brass tray/dish with a classical theme, initially I thought it had a Roman charioteer in the central panel but now perhaps think it’s just meant to be a generic classical figure?
It’s made of solid brass and was originally lacquered, although most of that has come off and it’s quite tarnished.
There are no marks of any sort on it.
Can anyone help me identify its origins and likely date please?
Can’t find anything online despite looking extensively .
I’m guessing European and dating to the 1920s or 30s.......

I would have a guess at French, and a little earlier.
The marks ore often not where you would expect to find them.

Thanks !
As it has been half- cleaned by someone in the past I’m resigned to having to clean it properly , I only did a test on the underneath to see if it was solid brass .
Perhaps when it is thoroughly cleaned a name or maker may become evident......
