ID help for pottery cat / leopard (?) figure please!
Hi,
I’ve recently acquired this pottery figure (not sure if it’s a cat or a much larger feline!) but can’t find out anything about it!
It’s made of white earthenware with a very thick green & brown glaze.
It is marked with a few impressed marks but they are indistinct.
It appears to read Copyright, then the letters W and J either side of a female figure in classical attire wearing a crown (or is that my wishful thinking?) and then E. Skinner or something similar.......
I’ve spent ages looking online and can’t believe that I’ve found out absolutely nothing !
I’m guessing that by the Copyright mark that it isn’t all that old......
Thanks !

Just to add that it’s pretty heavy with quite a few firing cracks under the glaze and the inside appears to have a lot of finger marks in the clay done by the potter when it was made....

Very nice. Not a mark I've come across before, and not finding it in the British Marks book so I think it's likely to be European

The marks are very difficult to photograph properly and aren’t impressed all that well.......
I really didn’t think it would be so difficult to identify the maker....

Worth smearing a thin later of marmite over the marks to try to highlight them better
