Does anyone recognise the modernist / abstract vase
Hi All. Hope someone might be able to help with this modernist / abstract vase. From the design I'm guessing mid-century - maybe 1950's / 1960's but that is only a guess. Found in the North West of England it measures 24.5 cm tall x almost 12 cm across at the widest part and weighs just under 400 gm. I've included an image of the base where there could be an impressed mark but I cannot make out any detail of what the mark (if it is one) says. Hope someone can help.

I'll take a wild stab at this - although the experts will probably put you right ... some of the West German stuff has some unusual shapes - Jahre, Ruscha ... but this could be French ie Vallauris. You will need to get a better shot of the whole base to give a better idea.

Its a better shot - thanks. The scratches could be a signature - hard to say because it really just looks like scratches - but some potters have 'unique' signatures ... that look like scratches!! And, perhaps clutching at straws - the colouring around the base could indicate a lightly pressed backstamp ...
