Marius Giuge, Vallauris France
I wonder if anyone has ANY clue about this dish please!
I have had it for a few years, picked up from a car boot stall where a couple (middle aged) were selling off a lot of the mans mothers items as she had gone in a home.
It caught my attention from its bright colours black purple red and yellow.
There is an impressed stamp on the bottom but its either been worn away or wasnt very clear in the first place?
Its a long shot I know as I have never been able to decipher what it says.. I've no idea which way up to read the mark either.. tried both ways and with a magnifier but just cant see properly.
Wondered if anyone recognises the style of the dish or anything at all really!
It might be old.. it might not, it might be British it might not.. I just have no clue!
Surely someone here might have an idea - lots of you seem to know alot.. I've enjoyed reading so many posts here and seeing some lovely lovely items!
Maybe someone might have something similar?
Anyway... hit me with your ideas! I'd love to hear any!
Thank you!

Looks like Vallauris to me too. Might say France underneath. From the style I’d say it was one of the ‘60s-70s production potteries from the region

Re: Marius Giuge, Vallauris France
Thank you so much! You are right! Cant believe I have been in the dark so long with this one!
Wow knowledge is indeed power! Wish I knew more.. but I am really enjoying learning and very grateful for the help!
I looked up a Marius Giuge stamp and it completely is clearer now on my dish when you compare.. I can suddenly now see most of the Giuge part and the POTIER part on my own piece...
Never thought I would find out the origin of this one!
I really love it for it's strange mixture of colours!
Makes you love it that bit more once you know a background to it too!
So pleased!
Thanks a million!

Re: Marius Giuge, Vallauris France
By the way.. the last pic I just posted of the stamp on the bottom of my dish is the best ive ever been able to read it yet!
I swear when you look at it normally you can not decipher the letters you can see in the pic there... I will remember to take photos with flash and study if I have trouble like this again!
