I have acquired this very lovely little dish today

It looks very Art Nouveau in style

It looks very like soapstone to me - but, I really have no idea. I think it has been made to look like that

The colour is a pale sort of peach tone, with darker pink speckles

It has initials on the base.  It is either  MQ or PW perhaps - within a circle

7.25" width / 7.5" length

Weight: 490g - I didn't realise it is so heavy.  I could possibly be a sculpture?

I can’t tell without picking it up if it’s heavy enough to be stone (stone is significantly heavier than pottery or stoneware) but it looks like it has a glaze on the surface, and inscribing a mark like that in stone is difficult; more likely it was drawn in wet clay.
Possibly made in Portugal and retailed by Neuwirth. The mark looks like PW or DW but I don’t know the potter.

No, I dont know either - it does weigh nearly half a kilo

I agree, would be difficult to inscribe a signature like that on stone

This is why I suggest it has been made to look like soap stone - its very lovely never the less

I will follow your lead and take a look at what you have suggested. thank you

It’s stoneware by Mairi Stone.
2000s- Dunbeacon, West Cork, Ireland
Currently- Cusovinna, Ballydehob, West Cork, Ireland.
