Hi

Looks transfer under a hardy gloss glaze to me but I could be wrong.

Ironstone was one thought. There's no thread for the screw to fix the shaft tight so the screw/bolt would have gone into a thread on the shaft.
Any ideas?

The transfer print looks familiar. I would guess it's by one of the Staffordshire potteries but without a mark it's difficult to know which one; they could have got the print out of a pattern book used by any of the factories.
