Vintage boy girl bookends Empty Vintage boy girl bookends

Anyone seen these before? I've seen lots of ceramic bookends but these are new to me.
They have a number on their base which i think is 35965. They have been filled with rice or something similar and had their production holes filled in to stop it falling out.

I’ve seen several with this shaped bookend. I think they are German, Austrian or Czech from the 20s-40s
