It’s lovely. Looks like something antique French tin glaze like Quimper pottery.
Very pretty and in nice condition too.

Re: Nice hand-painted jug with no clues - does anyone recognise?
Thank you Ben,
That's interesting. I've had a good look at many Quimper jugs and I can certainly see what you mean re the similarity. So French may be a good bet. However, so far I haven't found a single Quimper jug which isn't marked with the Quimper name...but I'll keep looking.

Well it's certainly tin-glazed faience, but very crudely decorated, It could be French.

French or Spanish imo, although Italian and Portuguese is also possible. Traditional provincial pottery, still being made.

Thank you Denbydump and Naomi.
I did think, when I first saw this jug, that it may well be a tourist piece.
For my education, can you tell me how you recognise something as being tin-glazed?
Thanks
Jack

Thick white glaze on an earthenware body that chips quite easily.
Re: Nice hand-painted jug with no clues - does anyone recognise?
Tin oxide based glaze over a darker earthenware , Also called Italian maiolica (as opposed to majolica which is the colourful one), Delftware and French faience.
