My money would be on it being from one of the Westerwald-based makers in Germany. If I remember rightly the Westerwald region is similar to Stoke-on-Trent in that there are (were) lots of potteries concentrated in a small area, and unless the pots are clearly marked it's often hard to identify a particular maker.

I disagree, the decoration looks unlike any Westerwald I have seen but is closer to Portuguese saltglaze

It looks familiar but I cant make out the mark, assuming there is one at the base of the handle. I dont think the Westerwald or Portuguese salt glazed pieces would be marked there, so it points to a studio potter

When I first spied this one I went Denby I am sure they did stuff like this around the Glyn Colledge era!

A little earlier. "Silver-grey" designed by Alice Teichtner (german) in the 1930s, but not salt-glazed.
