The label said A/F so I left it. I’m guessing there was a chip on the lid.

Unusual Star Dishes - Denby Tigo
Hello, please can anyone help to identify the makers of these unusual star shaped pin dishes? They look to date to about the 1950s/60s. The insides are smooth glazed while the outsides have a rougher textured feel, rather like stonewear. The bases are simply marked 'Made in England'. They measure almost 6" long by 4.5" wide by almost 1" deep. Thanks

Golly That was fast! Thanks for the info - knew that someone on here would know what they were, and I wasn't disappointed!

These were done in many colours, though the larger one was just black and white.

Hmm there were loads of them around years ago, when nobody knew what they were.
I found the big star at the meadowbank stadium fair in edinburgh, stupidly sold it,
and never seen another.

There was a mention on a Tibor Reich book. And just wanted to add that there was one published by his grandson in 2016 that is still available from their website at the cover cost, have seen them being sold for three times the price, in the exploitative world we live in! It isn't exactly the perfect book on his limited pottery output but has a lot of illustrations and family photos that show they lived with a lot of it.

Jealous! Been looking for that one for years, but never ever seen one.
Re: Denby pottery "Tigo ware" Tibor Reich designs
Yes, it is so difficult to find Tigo ware. I spend way too much time looking for it! The other problem is that it's rarely marked, other than 'Made in England' so unless the seller knows what it is, or can find another on Google image search, it's hard to identify, so isn't always listed as Tigo ware.denbydump wrote:Jealous!
