Oddly Proportioned Goblet, SW mark Empty Oddly Proportioned Goblet, SW mark

I would have put this rather top-heavy goblet down as a hobby piece but the two halves are actually well made, particularly the bowl with that slight turning outwards of the rim, and despite the appearance it is remarkably stable.

It shouts early 1970s when this type of thing was "on trend" and hundreds of people had potters for a short period, including my brother-in-law.

No, philpot, it was an unfortunate side effect - the ceramic version of brewer's droop.

I remember the early seventies well. We weren't one of those who had a potter but our neighbours did. They kept in in the outhouse most of the time.
