Ahhh ha... found a penguin with sticking out wings. As posted on page 6 by racoons4life.
He missed x2 vital photos that tell you what they are.
1) Full base photo

See if second set I'm about to post help more than the first...

Re: Briglin Pottery
A quirky dumpy bird money box.
Turn it over, and the feet are incised underneath. Attention to detail?

Briglin 'Thing' money box. Seems to be a cross between their owls and their dogs

SEVEN Briglin Poison Jars - missing lids is the norm, mostly from the mid 50s but sill made in the 60s - good seller. I have a list of what I've seen in the last 10 years.
Re: Briglin Pottery
EIGHT - Briglin medium vases - Four black and four from the sixties - all approx 200mm
Small lava glaze 'Gourd' vase - Briglin?
Found this lovely 'gourd vase'. Looks hand thrown. Just over 10cm high. Terracotta clay. Unfortunately the textured glaze means I can't read the maker's mark at all!
Does anyone have any ideas?
Apologies two of the pictures are on their side...
I know it's not Poole but it seems similar in scale and style to Poole Atlantis.
Thanks!

Re: Briglin Pottery
It's certainly a Briglin shape, but never seen a decoration and glaze like that before.

Re: Briglin Pottery
Maybe a test piece or just a faulty batch of glaze

Re: Briglin Pottery
Alan Pett has the some of the stamps from when Briglin closed. They are that shape but even when they do fill with glaze they tend not to have a distinct box around them as yours does.

Naomi, come on, just look at the workmanship that has gone into this unusual but lovely piece.
Re: Briglin Pottery
New to this forum, and fairly new to Briglin.... I inherited three pieces of Briglin (and an Aldermaston piece) from my parents - I grew up with the pots and always remember them so they have great sentimental value - two are perfect but one has a few nibbles.
Anyway - since bringing the vases home I've added a number of other pieces from eBay and Etsy, and this weekend purchased a number more at auction - some vases, some small bud vases, and some planters.
One of the planters is a bit unusual
- it's a thistle design (coloured rather than black and white) but it's signed Brigitte Appleby on the base and has Briglin both incised and stamped. I understood thistle to be quite late, but signed pieces to be generally early. Or have I been lucky to pick up a bespoke piece? The planter is quite small - about 5" tall by 4.5" wide. It came with a larger planter in the same design that has no marks at all.
