Cinque Ports pottery, Rye (Sussex).
Cinque Ports Pottery was established in 1956 by former Rye Pottery employee, David Sharp, together with his friend George Cray. They continued until 1964 when they parted company and George moved to The Monastery with his production being marked as such on the back-stamp. He was very successful but handed the company over to Jim Elliot (from Iden Pottery) in the 1980's who again changed the back-stamp slightly.

Cinque Ports Pottery ? range please
Hi,
Have purchased a few bits of pottery this last weekend and am trying to establish a little more. (Only pots we have are W.German). Each mug is backstamped, saucers are unmarked. Heavily crazed inside. Wondered what range they might be from (if any), and how old they might be, and any other info or ref points anyone may have.
Many thanks in advance, M & S

Hope I can remember how to add pics :) I don't often buy pots but just occasionally I see something I can't resist - this is one of them bought recently. A massive Cinque Ports urn or vase 9 1/2" tall by 71/2" wide, wonderful colours and a very unusual design.

Goblet
Unmarked goblet but it's the right shape and decoration for Cinque Ports

That's the earliest mark, Naomi, 1956-7 and the best period by far. The pottery was run by David Sharp and his business partner, George Gray, and at that time was at the Bank Buildings in the Mint.
So it was designed, thrown and decorated by David Sharp.
The only Cinque Ports Pottery that was ever worth real money.
