Lidded vase, MA mark Scottish?

This belonged to my partner's mother. My partner remembers that it was used as a cookie jar in the early 1960s. The mark looks like an Aldermaston signature, but I am unable to identify it. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts. Many thanks, Darren

Utterly different style I am afraid. Aldermaston was earthenware,with a white tin glaze and Islamic type decoration.

Appears to be a slip moulded pot which was been decorated by hand. There are some potters in the Scottish Isles making similar work; I’ll see if I can find them.

The one i was thinking of was Persabus Pottery on the Isle of Islay, but I dont think they’ve been in operation for 50-60 years

It's still a possibility then, if highlanddlg's partner remembers it being used in the 1960s.

It doesn’t necessarily follow that that particular pottery was in operation. Sometimes they’ve been handed or sold on, or someone new has set up a decade or two after the first Pottery
