Can anyone help with this pair of Italian Candle Holders
Hi. I'm saying Italian Candle holders but that is just a guess as I found what could be a small piece of wax at the bottom of one of the terracotta pot inserts and I'm more than happy to be corrected on this guess. Found in the North West of England this is a pair of bowl shaped holders which have a terracota 'pot' inserted into each one. The glaze on the bowl is thickly applied with a design of circles in red and black with an abstract shape in black. Running around the edge of these bowls is an orange design that reminds me of a sunburst pattern. They are small - each bowl measures 7.5 cms in diameter x 4.5 cms deep and weighs 90 gms. The 'pot' insert measures just under 6 cm in diameter at the rim and is 4 cm deep and weighs just over 60 gms. Marked in typical Italian fasion - with an alpha number sequence (maybe YY66/7) above ITALY but there is also at the top of these marks the letters S.A which may help.
If anyone can help (date & maker) it would be much appreciated.
