Sorry, its not Richard Batterham. Its his son Reuben who has a pottery in France. Richard Batterham has never used a personal mark.

Thanks Phil, I'll have a look at the link
I was under the impression that he signed his earlier pieces.
Not surprised to read it is by his son, I can see his father's influence.
Thanks again

Although I can say with certainty that you bowl was not made by Richard Batterham, you are correct in saying that he used a personal mark early on.
This followed some research on here a few years ago and it is a shame that this hasn't been merged with the Richard Batterham thread. However, it can be found here.

Thanks for the additional link, I'll have a look at it a little later today when I get chance.
Not long been contacted by someone claiming that the bowl is not by Reuben and likely to be by Richard. I intend to contact Reuben later today when I get the chance, along with looking at the additional link provided. Thanks again
You will note that I do not think it's by Reuben or Richard but contacting Reuben, as you plan to do, does seem the best way of resolving the matter.

You will also see in that link an image of the Reuben Batterham mark that I took from a pot originally bought from him and it is not the same as on your bowl.
Potters do on occasions change their seal but....
I don't recalling seeing any pots by Reuben with the glaze on your bowl. I admit that I haven't seen a great many, as he is based in France. However, what I have seen suggests that the glazes and style are in keeping with that of his father's and your bowl does not have such a glaze on it. Therefore there is no reason for me to think that your bowl was made by Reuben Batterham, so I would need more convincing.

That's an interesting and informative link and I'm inclined to agree that the pot is not a Batterham at all. The plot thickens haha
Thanks again studio
