Been taking a look at the mark - I think
Line 1 CHA ....... ( maybe CHAT.......)
Line 2 POTTERY
Line 3 G ...... ( maybe GL.......)
I wish I was a better detective!

Re: Studio cider flagon, William Worrall? Chalice Well, Glastonbury
Ever so frustrating.
Been having another look at the mark and thought I could see a C a few letters in on first word. CHALICE?
I found online a previous VINTAGE CHALICE WELL ART POTTERY GLASTONBURY PITCHER online for sale ( eBay?) and can’t find my way back to it. Glaze looked similarish on photos but they had no photos of mark.
Has any one else heard of Chalice Well Pottery?

That is very interesting Carol. One actually learns something new every day. Looks dead right.

I thought you guys would know if the date and the Leach connection made sense. I just did some googling! Interested because I like Chalice Well in Glastonbury - it's a lovely place - but there didn't seem to be much information about a pottery there.

You’re a good detective Carolalev ! So it seems like it could be quite an early piece - 1920s or 30s. I reckon the mark is right but I’d like to see another piece of marked Chalice Well pottery by William Worrall to check the mark.
Thank you for taking time to investigate.

Dear Ben
I created the William Worrall Wikipedia page- he was my great great uncle. I don't have any of his pieces but there are some at Glastonbury museum https://www.glastonburyconservation.org.uk/150/museum.php
So you could maybe compare marks with those. I once emailed the museum for info but did not receive a reply but you might be luckier. There is also a memorial to William in St John's Church, Glastonbury. It is made from two of his plaques so maybe the vicar would take photos of the reverse for you.
All the best,
Rachael Jones

That’s wonderful information, thank you
I have family in the area so I’ll pay a visit to Glastonbury Museum when the lockdown is lifted

Thank you Rachael, that’s really helpful and he sounds like a really interesting man. I will get in touch with the museum and see if they can help with a pottery mark. I think it is a Chalice Well mark but I’d like to check it with a clearer one. Cheers.
