One of the pieces from mum’s collection.
Stoneware, small bowl, B mark.
I know one of her tutors in South London pottery class was called David.
I’ve seen one jug with same mark sold as David Burnham.
Does this sound right that this is David Burnham ( surprisingly can’t find out more online).

All the pieces I have for David Burnham are highly decorated cats
Closest I can find is Matthew Bayman

Is that David Burnham Smith who makes the cats and wonderful bright animals? Different potter I think.

I’ve seen one pot that had been attributed to David Burnham on eBay but the mark looked more like that of Brian Bearne

I can confirm that the bowl is David Burnham and that he was a ceramics teacher in South London, around 2000-ish. I found some paperwork of mums and this is another piece by him with his B mark.

I know the name but he wasn't around in Greenwich in 2000 - it was before that. Trevor Coldrey, who ran the Harlequin Gallery in Greenwich before me had a mixed exhibition in the mid 1990s that included potters associated with Greenwich and included David and a certain Alan Wallwork. I can't confirm the mark, as I have never knowingly seen any of his work, but I am certain that the information you have provided is correct, as he would have taught your mother at the Community College.

He taught Eva at Haimo in Eltham but maybe other adult education colleges too. 1990s sounds right.

Yes, that is where he was based. Back then the Greenwich Community College had 3 sites around the borough where pottery was taught. Now it's down to one in Greenwich itself, where Anja Lubach teaches.

I have a feeling David Burnham might have moved down to the Portland area of Dorset but I might be mistaken.
