5.5” figure, chip carved, one piece plus spear. Painted
Does he look Japanese?
Only found one pair of Japanese chip carved wooden figures online, C1910.
My guess is this is mid or later 20th C.
Any advice?

It may be more recent. The Japanese Government tried to wipe out the Ainu cultural identity and it's only been allowed to reinstate itself in the recent few decades
