Maybe it's an old mark? Not like his current shino glazed pieces; like more like an ash glaze. His current mark has raised letters where as yours are indented

Re: Wayne Clark
Nice pieces. I wonder what the whole future of wood firing is going to be? There seem to fewer and fewer such potters about. It is certainly harder work than other firing methods. Equally one wonders how future climate change policies will effect the process.

Re: Wayne Clark
They say it’s carbon neutral because they’re only releasing what the trees have grown in recent times, rather than using electricity and gas from fossil fuels. But it depends on where you live; potters in towns and cities are limited to gas and electric. But there are now anagama kilns like Oxford and Kigbeare for communal firing.

Re: Wayne Clark
I bought the following teabowl with a thick shino glaze that reminded me of Patrick Sargent's work earlier this year from Wayne. As you will see, it is like the one that Naomi bought a couple of years ago.
I chatted to him and found out that he trained and graduated from Harrow School of Art in the 1990s and just afterwards had an exhibition in London with Paul Rice. A number of pieces sold and he told me that Paul had said something along the lines of, "I hope that you are not one of these young potters that is just going to disappear".
Of course he did disappear to make a living by teaching but has continued to make wood-fired pots in Wales for most of the time "under the radar". His wife also makes pottery in a completely different style.
He told me that over the years he has also help "neighbour" Charles Bound with his firings.

Re: Wayne Clark
His work is wonderful. Very few potters manage to get the colours he does with the shino glaze

But look at his stall. Many of those items are a big turn off. Does not seem commercial, who the hell wants a tea pot that big - who wants ceramic ladles? You are paying a lot of a 'piece of art' - I want something I can be proud of for my hard earnt ££whakka$$
Re: Wayne Clark
Horses for courses. You can’t please everyone and why should potters churn out standard ware if they don’t want to and can afford not to? Ben Brierley also makes chunky pieces, and I was very disappointed with Jim Malone's work at Waterperrys this year. They weighed a ton and lacked the sort of finesse he's apparently famous for.

Re: Wayne Clark
You also need a range, you gotta have some entry level pieces, something small. You are defending those ladles - look at them, you could understand someone saying they want three teabowls or three pint mugs but no one would ever but three ladles. Do some Guinomi or something.
Re: Wayne Clark
I much prefer a stall like that, than one full with standard ware.
He probably has a bunch of other Yunomi/bowls etc under the stand to fill the gaps after a sale anyway.

If I thought that any potter or artist was trying to be commercial then I would stop looking.
He makes stools now that would fit very well in your garden.

He did and he let me look under the table before I made my final choice.
