Re: Rising Hawk Axis England
The way the words look to have been hand-incised and the pattern or shape name is included reminds me of Ellgreave Pottery, who also used white clay.
The glossy glaze isn't typical of most Ellgreave but there is a partially ribbed-body jug with a glossy white glaze here: https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t19842-burslem-ellgreave-pottery-co-white-jug-date?highlight=Ellgreave, though that has a backstamp rather than an incised mark. The usual Ellgreave marking is that as found on a vase of mine, here: https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t25960-ellgreave?highlight=Ellgreave
A question: the ribs on your jug appear to be perfectly horizontal in the first two pics, and the first one shows that they run horizontally right to the base, so why do they look to be running diagonally in the last one looking up from the base? It's almost as though the last photo is of a different piece.

Re: Rising Hawk Axis England
That is one odd optical illusion.....or am I the only one seeing it?

I see it too. And on the cobalt blue version listed on ebay. I think it must be reality not illusion.
