Very nice. Looks like it’s signed Liz. There’s Liz Beckenham and Liz Riley but I don’t know if it’s their type of work

It's not the sort of thing I usually buy but I quite like its novelty value. Even the good lady wife likes it which is a definite bonus! The work is like nothing I have come across before and must ring a bell with someone viewing it on here. I will look into the "Liz" signature idea, Thanks for the suggestion.

I just had a look at a bowl on ebay, similar shape, same type of painted moto wording, even the same type of base but signed by Australian Brooke Clunie. Could this be where mine originated?? I will dig a bit deeper in this vein I think!
Having looked at her work on Google it seems she does make similar shaped items in similar clays. She also runs "have a go" sessions so I may have a "amateur" piece by one of her pottery visitors. Check it out at Brookfarm. Australia.

The wording reminds me of a poem about a failed Kamikaze pilot
The line was
he must have looked far down
at the little fishing boats
strung out like bunting
on a green-blue translucent sea
