Stoneware bottle - blue top
Hello,
I have a stoneware bottle and can't find anything similar online to compare it to.
It is 14.5 cm tall and has the crown motif printed three times around the body.
Only marks on the bottom are scratched initials HM (despite the crowns I don't think it is that HM!)
There are some nice details such as black lines on the handle and it feels like care has been taken in its manufacture.
If anyone knows when this was made and by whom, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rosalyn

Ah - thank you.
Do you think it would be something they made as a decorative item or for a manufacturer to use for their product?
Could it be a sample - I haven't been able to find anything remotely like it.
Your knowledge is really appreciated - it is fascinating acquiring information about interesting objects.

Re: Stoneware bottle - blue top
Both Denby, Langley and Doulton made bottles this size for a whole host of
manufacturers and different products like Ginger beer, printer's inks, polish etc.
The handle is unusual on a small bottle this size, so probably not Ginger beer.
Langley often had a crown impressed, no one knows why, possibly made for a customer like crown estates, or a government dept.
