Gebruder Benedikt

Hello there, i found this 12 persons diner and tea set in a second hand shop. I know its from gebruder Benedikt Czech Republic, but i cant find information about date. Does


anyone knows more?

With much factory made pottery/porcelain from around the world changes in the mark can often give you an age period very accurately. However the entwined GB seems to have be used throughout the factories existence beginning around 1882.

The "Made in" might be a clue. Do any of the other pieces say where it was made because the country changed..... Czechoslovakia 1918 - 1993 and the Czech republic after that date.

Looking at the images to determine the age isn't as easy as it is when holding items but the fact that you found so much together suggests to me that it doesn't have any great age and the images seem to hint at that too.

They are a big company specialising in as they say, "mainly the production of hotel porcelain", and have a website so you might get some help by contacting them. That type of factory is going to mean that styles and patterns are often going to be in production for long periods i.e. decades.

Although I can't quite put my finger on the reason, there is something about the pattern that makes me think 1980s.
