mystery pair of vases

I have always assumed these vases were ceramic?

they are obviously handmade and have a sort of Art Deco style to them

the inner vase is glazed off white

they were purchased in Florida when I was on holiday there

5 x 16 cm each

looks like paper maché

they are not particularly heavy but definitely not paper ;-)

The Americans have a splatter glaze technique but I’ve never seen it so thick. It looks like flecks of paint. Googling MCM Splatter effect pottery brings up a variety of examples but not finding this pot shape

these vases are quite finely made and light weight

these colours are embedded in the off-white core of the vase and the shapes are all angular
