I took a final look around in an old foundation before we start filling in.  Although I had looked years ago, I didn't see this until now.  And surprisingly, it was not damaged.  The foundation is full of broken mason jars.

The pot is 10" high  7"  diameter and 3 1/2" diameter opening.   There is a cream color at the top and glaze.   The rest is totally raw.

I just have the curiosity of what it could have been.  The foundation goes back to pre-20's,  but there have also been a lot of "campers" around since the house fell..  and I find items from the 60's and 70's around.

Stoneware storage pot. I'm afraid I dont know how to date it. There are keen stoneware collectors groups on Facebook.

So basically it was used to store whatever. I know there are no markings on it other than the scratches and cuts into it from being buried .. and being under water in the spring.
