t w gaze design auction

The design auction from my local auction house T W Gaze is now online, mostly ordinary fare but with a few good things, there is a Constantinidis bottle form ,john ward vase and a small selection of Maltby including another of those rocking ship ornaments.

Gaze's have always have had a good selection of Studio pottery in their auctions. But there is probably usually too much chaff, with only the few kernels of wheat. This one seems to be no exception to that. The Maltby estimates look quite high. But then they had a significant number of Maltbys at Cheffins in Cambeidge a little while ago and prices were quite punchy.

I am a regular buyer at gaze's and have been for many years as far back as their livestock sales. In the 80s and 90s there were bargains to be had regularly but alas not so often these days, i think the Ward pot looks good and i might go to view it tomorrow.
