Re: Deco turquoise jug? Any clues?
Is it cold-painted or glazed decoration?
Probably something like Brentleigh ware, 1930s Staffordshire.

Hi Denby, It doesn't appear to be glazed at all. Its matt to the touch. Excuse my ignorance, but feels like the finish chalk paint gives furniture. For a hundred yrs old it's mint. Love the cloud form top. It has a twin but sadly he is hasn't faired aswell in the chip department. As always help gratefully received.

indeed probably Brentleigh ware. They are weird in that do have a sort of chalky texture that makes them very prone to damage. It was produced by a staffordshire firm Howard Pottery & co.

I shall have a Google and a read. I know most of my finds are inexpensive and may not be considered "good" but I just love the history of it all, who created it, painted it, designed it. What a 'pot' says about a time period or indeed the creator. Thanks philpot
