Carn.
All the Carn pottery I've seen has been unsigned.

Yes deffo Carn. Most Carn has an ink stamp and you can find some of the larger pieces are signed by John Buesman

Re: John Beusmans, Carn Pottery (Cornwall)
Just spotted a very faint stamp on one of my pieces, but the other 3 don't have it -
Re: John Beusmans, Carn Pottery (Cornwall)
The inks stamps do fade over time and much quicker in sunlight so many that no longer have stamps probably did have them originally.

I seem to have added Carn to my collecting habits. Wish I could find an affordable copy of the book.

Yes it is, the marks can rub off, or are sometimes very faint.

Re: John Beusmans, Carn Pottery (Cornwall)
It seems that some people expect Carn pieces to command extremely high prices. I recently purchased a couple of pieces of Carn for £20-40 and then found the same pieces advertised on the net for £100+ each. Today I noticed a pair of owls on an internet auction site selling for £50 each. I did a bit of searching on the web as I hadn't come across the designs before. I found similar pieces attributed to John Beusmans on a number of websites.
Does anyone know anything about these owls? Are they very early examples of John's work or are they totally unrelated to the Carn Pottery?

Yes, the Owls are by Carn Pottery

Best not to post links to eBay listings, though, because the images are usually deleted after 90 days . If you have Pinterest then post them via that instead.

Thanks for putting me straight, Naomi. I'll have to keep an eye out for one of these little owls for my collection.

Hi I know John quite well I see him at some of the auction houses around the Penzance area . He once told me that he only signs a piece if he is asked to do so when it is purchased from his studio so most pieces are unsigned .
He offered to sign some pieces for me but I refused as in my eyes the piece IS the signature .

Sorry, Denby, was that a question? Slip cast by the looks of it. Cinque Ports, Rye, after Parkinson, maybe?

Green Owl - Carn or Celtic Pottery - Photograph
I am so pleased to be able to contribute to this thread. I know when I bought mine it was described as Carn or Celtic. Unfortunately I have not got the owl to hand to check what it looks like on the underside.
