Re: Eva Williams
It’s my mum, Eva Williams (1929. - 2019). So nice to see her work on here. Thank you Studio Pots for potting it here and for encouraging her interest in studio ware.
If you see her work it’s always an incised mark. She studied art in Central Art School in the 1950s, got into sculpture in the 1960s and by the mid 1980s started learning pottery in Haimo adult education classes. She never worked professionally but sold lots of work in Greenwich market and in small exhibitions. She mostly worked in stoneware, sometimes earthenware and the odd bit of porcelain. Eva mostly did domestic ware but also decorative pieces and some sculptural work. I’ll take a few photos of some different work. This is our oats pot at home

Re: Eva Williams
Great to have a new name in the reference collection. Was she based in London?

Re: Eva Williams
Yes, she lived in Greenwich. However, she was making before I took over the Harlequin Gallery and was a fellow customer of the gallery when Trevor Coldrey ran it. The lidded jar was from Trevor's kitchen and was in use until his recent move to smaller premises.
The mark might look like that of a "hobby potter" but she was active for many years and did sell her work, as Ben says. The work was also as "professional" as many people that would have described themselves as such.
