Chappell pots - Sussex 1960s
I wonder if anyone can tell me something about this potter. The bowl was made in the 1960s by a potter I only knew as Mr Chappell, who was briefly associated with Newick House School, Burgess Hill, where my mother worked. The bowl is terracotta, 10.5 cm base diameter, 12.5cm top diameter and 5,5cm deep. It has the incised signature "Chappell" on the base, and no other maker's marks. I like the stick-man decoration.

That is wonderful information. Edited to add, there is one with a Lindfield School Centenary 1881-1981 cartouche, and stamped Chappell, showing they were all made in the UK - Lindfield is in Sussex
I’ve come across several pots marked Chappell in the past and thought some of them may have been Australian. Here’s one -

There is also a Chappel and Chappelle in France.
