Unidentified cup and saucer, hand decorated.

Nice old cup and saucer, hand painted with a very small pattern number as the only identifying mark. Can anyone point me to a maker? It looks English but could be maybe German? Porcelain or bone china, not sure which. Victorian at least I reckon. Thanks for any help!

Nice piece Pete, lovely decoration and good gilding. Deep foot on saucer suggests age.
Might be Derby, but the give away will be the unique shape of the cup handle.

Hi Denby, I have tried looking for the handle design. A search of the usual suspects(coalport etc) has so far drawn a blank. It's out there somewhere! May be one of the smaller producers, or continental. Keep your eyes peeled! Cheers!
