Unknown Vase with heron, Provenance and Date? Empty Unknown Vase with heron, Provenance and Date?

Can anybody help with identifying this vase?

It has no markings.

It has been in my family for over 60 years.

The vase style is common but the hand-painted 'Heron' design is unusual.

Possibly Japanese but could be European.

Have researched on Google for years but have not found anything similar.

Photo of base.
Vase dimensions:  25 height cm from base to top of neck (excluding lid) with diameter 17cm.
