Ash glaze yunomi - maker?
Any thoughts about this pot? Definitely ash-glazed, not as refined as it could be - a bit heavy and the rim and base aren’t terribly well formed. Traces of a makers mark but nothing useful.
My gut feeling is something made at a good pottery but not by the potter themself - maybe a student on a residential course? The clay body/glaze just don’t match the quality of making. Or am i being a bit harsh?

Re: Ash glaze yunomi - maker?
I agree, it does, which is why I bought it!
However it does feel heavy in the hand, and the rim has been left flat which has caused the glaze to thin and break over the edge making it not so nice to drink from, rather than being rounded and compacted in throwing to give a smooth rim. The internal profile also has a ‘step’ at the base rather than a smooth profile.
But as you say, I’m probably being picky!
