Stoneware 10cm bud vase, pencil mark
Very well made
Speckled grey with tenmoku lines and circle decoration
Mark on base - hard to read, may not be by maker. Maybe by owner to remind them who made it.

I think you’re right about the previous owner writing on the base. Lovely pot.

Wild guess. But I wonder about Robert Tinnyunt? His usual style is Wheat Ears and the like. But the glaze colours look similar to the ones he used. At Kingsteignton he was very close to your neck of the woods.

I did buy it together with a beautiful Lowerdown David Leach globe bud vase but the glazing was definitely different so they weren’t made together. I wonder if you might be right Philpot that it’s Robert Tinnyunt. His work is ever so variable but I do see really beautiful pieces by him. Certainly he’s local as is David Leach.
