Bob Kinzie Lamps
Hello,
I just purchased a pair of Bob Kinzie lamps. I searched this site and found a page from an old indentification page but couldn't identify what model these were, if the mark was on of the original Bob Kinse lamps or year it may have been produced. I'm pretty sure the shades are also original to the laps.

I was lucky enough to buy a matching pair and they look amazing in our formal living room.
Any help is appreciated.
Jim

Re: Bob Kinzie Lamps
It's certainly his mark and lamp, but it's a specialist subject so I'm afraid we probably won't be able to help with additional info unless another collector spots this post.

Affiliated Craftsmen Lamps
The lamps you have posted were not made by Bob Kinzie. There seems to be some ongoing confusion about this. Affiliated Craftsmen was a company started in the early 1970's by three potters; Bob Kinzie, John Scott, and Phil Barkduhl (not sure about the spelling of Barkduhl). In keeping with the Japanese Mingei philosophy of the "Unknown Craftsman" these potters did not initially mark their pottery except with a paper label which was generally removed and discarded.
At some point (late 70's I think), Bob Kinzie left Affiliated Craftsmen. After Kinzie left, Phil Barkduhl began using the stamp mark that you have on your lamp. Phil Barkduhl made the lamps you purchased. It annoys Bob Kinzie to this day that all Affiliated Craftsman lamps and pots are attributed to him. Before Affiliated Craftsmen was widely known, all these pieces were erroneously attributed to David Cressey (who had nothing to do with Affiliated Craftsmen); this notion was strenuously corrected by Bob's wife Sandie Kinzie (and to a lesser degree by me) whenever an internet posting, such as ebay or 1st Dibs turned up with the mis-identification.
To make matters even more confusing, after Kinzie left Affiliated, he did freelance work for Raul Coronel and for Architectural Pottery continuing to use some of the same designs and styles.
I know Bob and Sandie Kinzie, and I know John Scott and I have spoken with all of them about this subject (I have never met Phil Barkduhl), and I have told this story many times online, but the misunderstanding continues and every time an unmarked Affiliated Craftsmen piece turns up, it is attributed to Bob Kinzie. and probably 65% of the time that is wrong. I own a pair of those lamps myself and once when Bob and Sandie visited me, he pointed at them and said "Those aren't mine". I said "I know, Bob, yours are better".

Re: Bob Kinzie Lamps
I can see I should have reviewed my previous post about "Bob Kinzie--Affiliated Caftsmen and beyond" before starting this, as through faulty memory, I have continued to repeat errors with regard to Affiliated Craftsmen that were clarified by others previously. So, if you are reading this, please read both threads....
