Paula Rego

The Portuguese artist Paula Rego died yesterday aged 87.She was a an exceptional artist although a number of people found some of her paintings disturbing especially the abortion series, she was a campaigner for women's rights although not a committed feminist, men seemed to take second place in her paintings, we have visited a few of her exhibitions etc but i don't think many would want a picture of a women in the throws of post abortion on the wall of their living room, although prints are available for the less squeamish. A truly exceptional and talented artist with something to say.
