Slipware platter with fish, spiral mark - Alison Brayshaw?
Does anyone have any pots by Alison Brayshaw? I can find very little about her other than I think she is based in the East Riding of Yorkshire. I get the sense she has migrated from potting to making jewellery.
Anyway, I recently picked up this very nice oval slipware platter with fish designs. It's quite large at 36cm x 26cm (14 1/4" by 10 1/4") and is made of red clay. It has her mark on the back...a simple spiral.
So is the first Alison Brayshaw on the forum?
BTW, does anyone know of a supplier of sturdy plate stands?
Regards,
Jay.

Thanks so much for your help again Naomi. I am however a little puzzled, why do you think the 'spiral' on my platter doesn't match the 'spiral' on the image you posted?
They look pretty much one and the same to my untrained eye plus it does state that Alison used red clay as per the platter.
Maybe I missed something.
Regards,
Jay.

Alison used an A mark from 1997-2002 when she was making Slipware on earthenware. She then stopped potting for 10 years and restarted using porcelain clay and the spiral mark. Yours isn’t porcelain
It might be by Gordon Menzies, Iona Pottery or Mike Labrum, Spiral Pottery. Both used a spiral stamp
