Vessel Signed Williams? Empty Vessel Signed Williams?

Dear Forum,

Attached three photos of a small stoneware vessel, height approx 6cm, circumference approx 6.5cm. Well modelled and glazed. Incised signature on base reads "WILLIAMS" Wondered if this piece was therefore made by the American potter Gerry Williams? Comparing his signature online it doesn’t seem to be his handwriting
