Ok I’m Totally new to the forum. Please excuse me if I’m not posting this right. I know this came from Japan in the 1950s. I am posting a number of items my Mom brought back from living in Japan at that time. It would be great to know more about some of my favorites. She lived near Kyoto but traveled a lot in the country. The bowl measures 41/2” across and 3” high there is a small spot of bit of red color near the rim.ANY INFO IS APPRECIATED! Thank you

It’s Japanese black raku tea bowl. Nice clear stamp but I don’t know the maker

It’s Japanese raku (not the Western version). The teabowl is taken out of the kiln and plunged into cold water.

It will be lighter in weight than you might expect, which is always a good indicator.

I will see if I can find the kiln mark when I have a little time.
