I found a Hartley's jam jar online with this mark:

Interestingly, Hartley's had their own potteries, one in Liverpool, and another from 1898, at Rutherglen near Glasgow. The second link confirms this particular monogram was used by Hartley's. My guess if the "G" is for Glasgow.
