And I found it had earth in it. It is a better plant pot than teapot perhaps.

I wondered. It has no lid with it . Would it have had one? It’s an odd design but maybe it’s a poor student piece?

I'm not seeing anything obviously studenty about it. How does it feel? Is the throwing well balanced? If it's a Asian water pot rather than a teapot then that might explain the lack of a lid, but I suspect it's simply lost it over the years. Might be a hare's-fur tenmoku glaze
