Sir Terence Conran - Auction of the Contents of his home
This auction takes place on 14 December and, although I don't expect anyone on here will consider bidding, it is very interesting to see a large miscellaneous collection that includes examples of 20th century art & design, together with earlier items.

Interesting - strikes me that he was one of us, loving collecting things that too his fancy, auction and old things. Many a collection of nick-nacks there. Probably spent most of their lives in boxes and just been taken out to get a few quid. Still he's a big name in the design world. Would like something quirky that guest can comment on, then you tell them it came from the Conran sale as if you and he had impeccable taste. Saying that.... a lot of it is quite odd.

There are a few items that i could give houseroom but as usual in this type of sale the Conran name will carry the items beyond their actual worth, i for one won't be tempted.

Celebrity Landamrk Estate auction indeed. Hugely advertised, a major figure in British 2oth century retailing, and indeed the whole of the national taste in Design and many other areas. The prices will go through the roof! Anybody buying from that sale in not buying to make a profit But as you say Croker a fascinating glimpse into an elcectic collection.

I think that I noticed a few bits by Rupert Spira but not identified as such.

Enquired about one of the rugs but apparently quite stained, i think Terence must have been very careless with his drinks.

The results of the auction. Fairly tame results.

That's what happens when the best items are cherry-picked and the remainder sent to auction
